I recently found a stash of oat milk packages in my pantry and I was left quite surprised. I knew about the existence of oat milk, but it made me realize that I had never really given much thought to them.
When I drank oat milk for the first time, I was quite surprised at how much I had HATED the taste. Even though oatmeal is my #1 go-to breakfast meal, the bitter taste of oats just did not sit well with me.
Even though I despise the taste of oat milk, it’s somehow an ongoing battle on whether to drink dairy milk or oat milk. I keep thinking that oat milk is somehow “healthier”, and it makes me feel like I should drink more oat milk instead of dairy milk. To see if oat milk really is a healthy option, I decided to research the health benefits or the cons of drinking oat milk.
First off, WHAT IS OAT MILK?
Oat milk is a popular dairy-free, vegan friendly substitute for milk!
It’s made by soaking and blending steel-cut or rolled oats with water and then straining them through cheesecloth to separate the milk from the oats.
PROS OF OAT MILK

- It can be quite expensive compared to other types of milk.
After researching all about oat milk, do I still feel as if it were a “healthier” option compared to other types of milk?
My honest opinion is no.
The bottles of oat milk still continue to sit in my pantry, but do I feel the obligation to open some and drink it?
No.
Maybe there just might be a day when I decide to open a bottle of oat milk and actually enjoy the taste. I have no idea. But as of now, no thank you to oat milk.
